Project Workshop Sessions

Project Workshop Sessions will be one or two hours long. The morning workshops will be helped from 9-11am. The afternoon workshops will be held from 1:30-3:30pm. (Hands-on Exhibits and Performances will take place during the break between Project Workshop Sessions.)

4-H Horse Projects

Come and see what the Horse project has to offer. All are welcome to learn about the horse project even if you do not own a horse.

Advanced LEGO NXT Programming

This workshop will cover advanced topics in LEGO Mindstorms NXT programming including: My Blocks, Variables, Math blocks and debugging techniques. Ages 9 and up.

The Art of Public Speaking

The Art of Public Speaking: This workshop will teach participants the fundamentals of declamations, speeches and demonstrations. The first half of the program will educate and provide real life examples on each of these communication methods, and the second half will be interactive. All participants will have the opportunity to present in front of the group based on material they develop and practice in the workshop.

Crystal Stringing**

List Birth month; String a Swarovski crystal birthstone bracelet. Please provide your own clasp. No experience needed. Bring own tools only if you already own them. Topics cover design, sizing, crimping, choosing and attaching clasp.

Exploring Cloverbuds

Cloverbuds have an opportunity to meet other cloverbuds through games, actvities, and crafts.

Intro to Candy Making

Learn how to make chocolate hearts, orange chocolate meltaways, and peppermint heart candies.

Intro to Clogging

Learn about this form of folk dancing by workng with members of the clogging project.

Intro to Crocheting

Introduction to crocheting. No experience required. Materials (yarn, hook and instruction book) will be provided. Topics covered - yarn choices, how to read a pattern, basic stitches

Intro to Knitting

Introduction to Knitting: Making Friendship Bracelets. No experience required. Materials (yarn, needles, and pattern will be provided). Topics covered - yarn choices, reading a pattern, basic stitches.

Knitting

The goal of this workshop would be to introduce intermediate knitters to cables. The plan is to make a relatively simple hat adorned with easy cables. This can be for any age knitters as long as they have the knitting basics down (ie knit and purl). Because everyone has different tastes it will be BYOY (bring your own yarn) as well as bring your own needles. For this project knitters will need one size #7 or #8, 16" round knitting needle, Four size #7 or #8 double pointed knitting needles, one cable needle, and any worsted weight yarn. Copy of pattern will be provided.

Intro to Quilting

Quilt a Fabric Bean Bag. No experience required. Bring Sewing machine if possible. Materials provided. Topics covered -- how to cut fabric safely, how to sew blocks, how to sew blocks together, and how to finish and embellish your beanbag.

Memory Wire Beaded Bracelet

Create a beautiful beaded bracelet on memory wire. No previous beading experience necessary, but the project does require patience. All project supplies and tools will be provided.

Model Train Scenery

Make a small portion of scenery with pink foam and plants that are found. Also, run a Lionel train around a track.

Photography **

Learn how to compose a quality still life photo. Bring your own camera. Have fun and come and go as you want....

Rabbit Hopping

You will learnhow to train your rabbit to run a course of 8-10 jumps ranging in heights from 2 incehs to 14 inches. This is done while you guide him/her on a leach anda harness. You wil llearn proper handling and care of your rabbit along with training as a team. This class will also cover all the rules and and guidelines for a successful hopping event held each year before the County Fair. For this project each handler must own or either work with another breeders rabbit. Sharing the same rabbit is not allowed. You may attend this class with or without a rabbit.

Railroad Diorama - Scenery Demo

Demonstration on Train landscaping. Tips and techniques on railroad development.

Rocketry

Time(s): 9am-11am Age: 8-19 Cost: $6
Open to 4-H members only. Build a Simple Rocket. If time permits, may launch a dizzy flier.

Scrapbooking a Birthday Page **

Time(s): 1:30pm-3:30pm Age: 8-19 Cost: $3
12x12 scrapbook page with a birthday theme. Please bring scrapbook adhesive or scrapbook glue stick & 4-6 pictures of a birthday celebration.

Sewing - Messenger Bag **

A bag for your needs. Need a sewing machine, if you don't have one contact Natalie. Click here for a picture of the messanger bag being created, note fabric may differ.

Woodburning

Time(s): 10am-11am or 1:30pm-2:30pm Age: 5-19 Cost: None
Learn the basics of woodburning, the woodburning tools and suplies used, and selecting designs. Participants will have the opportunity to create a small woodburning design they can take home with them. Young children should have an adult to assist them during the workshop.

Wood Working

Wood Working with small hand tools. Come learn the basics of woodworking.

Leaders will be responsible for determining project to be done, bringing needed supplies, determining class size limits, and setting the price of any necessary fees to cover costs of supplies.
